MICHIGAN - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has joined a multistate coalition of attorneys general in filing a formal comment letter (PDF) opposing the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) proposal to restrict absentee ballot delivery.  The USPS proposal was issued to work in tandem with an executive order President Trump issued on March 31. That executive order would require states to submit to the USPS each absentee or mail-in voter’s name, address and unique “Intelligent Mail Barcode.”  The USPS proposed that it would enforce that order by refusing to deliver ballots to anyone not on that list.  Attorney General Nessel says while a federal judge barred the executive order from being enforced, the USPS has not rescinded its proposed rule.  In filing this comment letter, Attorney General Nessel was joined by the attorneys general in several other states including Wisconsin and Minnesota.
