BESSEMER –  The Red Cross to Be In Bessemer this Wednesday.  Consider donating blood. The American Red Cross is holding a series of blood drives this week in the Upper Peninsula to replenish the supplies that typically dwindle as people take vacations and road trips. The Red Cross says that blood has a shelf life of 42 days, which means ongoing donations are key to ensure medical needs are met. Type O blood donors and those giving platelets are especially needed as the summer season continues. On Wednesday, a drive is being held in Bessemer in the VFW Hall from 9 am to 1 pm.
