IRONWOOD / U.P. - Nine Upper Peninsula businesses are receiving state grants to help strengthen Michigan's downtowns. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation awarded more than $1.5 million through its Match on Main program, providing reimbursement grants of up to $25,000 for new and expanding small businesses. Among the Upper Peninsula recipients are Z's Hometown Market in Wakefield with $25,000, L'Anse Beer Company with $15,000, and UP-N-Smoke BBQ in Ironwood with $25,000. In all, 69 businesses across Michigan received funding through the program.
