WASHBURN - Pickleball is everywhere, and in Washburn, it allowed folks to get some exercise, have fun and make new friends. However, the facilities are in need of some TLC. A group of pickleball players who are part of the Washburn Tennis and Pickleball Association decided to do something about that. The group has asked the City Council to help fund a project to improve playing conditions and add more courts. Residents, businesses and groups have donated, and the group has received grant funding and is applying for more. After discussion on the idea, the council agreed to contribute $24,500 using funding previously borrowed that’s been approved for the project.
