LANSING, Mich - Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced that she is seeking a Presidential disaster declaration for the state of Michigan in response to April’s severe weather and flooding.  If approved, the Whitmer’s request would allow federal aid to start flowing directly to families, businesses, and communities. This weather damage affected 43 counties across Michigan between April 10 and 21.  Governor Whitmer’s request will be reviewed by FEMA which will advise President Trump on whether a disaster declaration is warranted. The final decision rests with the president.
