WASHBURN - Construction is underway on major upgrades at Washburn’s middle and high schools after voters approved a referendum for the improvements. Students, staff, and community members marked the start of the project by using golden shovels to break ground at a ceremony on Tuesday, complete with a confetti finale to mark the occasion. Planned improvements include a new front entrance, updated restrooms, and other building repairs. Work on the renovation is expected to take about 18 months to complete.
