UPPER MICHIGAN - DNR firefighters are continuing their work to contain a wildfire in Dickinson County in the U.P. The fire was reported at 8:30 Sunday night and now nearly three dozen firefighters were working on the fire throughout the day, including a 20-person Hot Shot crew based in the Idaho panhandle and a Type I helicopter on loan from the U.S. Forest Service. Two firefighters from the Norway City Fire Department have also been working on the blaze. A temporary flight restriction is in place prohibiting drone flights and private aircraft in the vicinity of the fire. No roads or recreational trails have been impacted by the fire, and there are no buildings or homes in the immediate area. The Fire Danger in Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties in the Extreme Range. Rain is on the way and in the forecast for the region today.
