BAYFIELD - The Bayfield City Council has the task of filling an important city position now that Mayor Ted Dougherty has resigned for health reasons. City Council President Lyn Cornelius will serve as acting mayor while the city weighs the options for filling the roughly one year remaining in Dougherty’s term. A new mayor can be named by the city council, a special election can be held, or the interim mayor can be pressed into service until the next scheduled election. Mid-April, the consensus on the council was to not fill the position. The subject will be on the agenda for the city council’s June meeting.
