GOGEBIC COUNTY – The Copperwood mine in Gogebic County is one step closer to being built.  State appropriations committees have reviewed a $50 million proposal that would support Highland Copper’s Copperwood Mine project. The money would come from the state’s Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve fund. Highland Copper already has its state permits and location set.  Votes are scheduled for next week.  The Copperwood mine would bring over 300 construction jobs to build and 380 permanent jobs once the mine is up and running.
