UPPER MICHIGAN - The unofficial start of Summer is this weekend and MDOT says ongoing construction, along with visitors to the area will cause some traffic congestion.

There are 18 active projects in the U.P., and MDOT will remove lane restrictions on half of the projects. M-28 on Trout Creek in Ontonagon County and the M-35 project in Gwinn will have one lane of alternating traffic with stoplights. Also, if you thought you might want to cross the Mackinac Bridge, keep in mind that repaving will be going on during the holiday weekend. It’ll be one-lane in each direction. At least 100,000 vehicles will cross the bridge this weekend, but all toll lanes will be open to keep traffic moving.
