WASHBURN - Washburn animal rescue Helping PAWS expanded its low-cost "Critters Without Litters" spay/neuter program with grants from the Lupa Animal Wellness Fund, the Green Bay Packers Foundation, and the Chequamegon Food Co-op. Celebrating 20 years in business, the organization will increase subsidized appointments due to high demand, including a recent case of 64 cats from one farm. Founded in 2006, the group combats animal overpopulation by stressing the importance of spaying and neutering, especially for cats. Helping PAWS coordinates monthly clinic appointments for dogs and cats (including barn cats via live-trapping), with vaccinations offered. Call or email the organization at info@helpingpawswi.org for assistance. Donations are accepted.
