WAKEFIELD - Wakefield city officials have announced that the sanitary sewer overflow or SSO conditions that had plagued two municipal locations have been successfully resolved. The disruptive issue, according to city engineers, was excessive floodwater into the municipal sewer collection system. The total volume of discharge over 460,000 gallons of water were released from two key infrastructure points: the main lift station and the cemetery lift station. City officials are now focused on assessing any potential environmental impact and implementing long-term strategies to mitigate the risk of similar flood-induced overflows in the future.
