MERCER - Police are investigating a fatal accident near Mercer yesterday. At 5:33 p.m. on Sunday March 30, Police say the driver of a 2012 Audi A4 lost control and rolled over into the west ditch on US 51 southbound at Tower Ridge Road near Mercer. The driver only being identified as a 29-year-old male driver from Mercer was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 23-year-old male passenger was transported by ambulance to Howard Young Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident and that neither driver nor passenger were wearing a seatbelt. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting further investigation, and the names of the occupants are not being released pending the notification of the family.
