IRONWOOD - The Gogebic Community College Ironwood XC Snowmobile National Championship races scheduled for this past Saturday were cancelled due to rain.

Gogebic Community College and Cor Powersports were all set to hold the second year of the race, but snowpack had deteriorated sufficiently to make the track unsafe. There were 445 entries ready to race, but with the length of the course, it became impossible to maintain the entire track so riders could run. Cor Powersports Owner Todd Myers said it was disappointing, but working around the weather is just part of job. Myers says he’s working to secure a three-year contract with Mt. Zion’s ski hill management for future race finales.
