ASHLAND - An ordinance requiring short-term rental operators to apply for a license has been passed in Ashland. City officials say the goal of the ordinance is to project those who live in the same area as the rentals. Each rental must be up to code and meet certain parking requirements. There is also an occupancy limit for rentals. According to the ordinance, the maximum number of guests is limited to two guests per bedroom, plus one guest elsewhere. The property owner or manager must always be within 30 miles of the property. City Administrator Brant Kucera says they’re not trying to put a cap on short term rentals, but rather they’re making sure everyone is accommodated, both residents and visitors to the area.
