VILAS COUNTY - The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office reports a snowmobile rider was killed after an accident over the weekend. The crash was reported just after 5 on Saturday, on Trail 15 near Sweet Fern Lane in St. Germain. Law enforcement officials say the rider was taking a curve and struck a tree. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the rider died on the way to the hospital. The Sheriff’s Office is withholding the identity of the deceased pending notification of relatives. Investigation into the crash by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Vilas County Sheriff’s office continues.
