IRONWOOD - The Gogebic-Iron County Airport Board reviewed and began updating its Airport Layout Plan with planning firm Mead and Hunt to meet new FAA standards.

The ALP, which details current and future airport states, is critical for federal funding of development projects; the last full update was in 2011. Separately, the board approved a contract with MDOT to purchase new snow removal equipment, replacing a 1989 snowblower. The airport’s share of the projected $18,000 to $20,000 cost is 2.5%, but the MDOT contract still requires approval from the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners.
