N. WISCONSIN - In light of 13 incidents this winter alone, the Wisconsin DOT and Wisconsin County Highway Association are urging drivers to give snowplows space.

Slow down and stay back at least 200 feet; six serious, often rear-end, strikes were reported. Passing is dangerous due to poor visibility from snow clouds. Always focus, avoid distractions, and remember posted limits are for ideal conditions, as speeding causes most winter crashes. Check 511wi.gov or the 511 Wisconsin app for conditions. Postpone travel during major storms, as stranded vehicles impede removal. Wisconsin’s highway plowing, salting, and brining is handled by a partnership with 72 county highway departments.
