ASHLAND - Cave Enterprises, which runs 105 Wisconsin Burger King franchises including one in Ashland, faces over 1,600 state child labor and wage violations, the largest in modern Wisconsin history. The Ashland Daily Press reports those violations, from 2020 to 2025, affected over 600 minors and resulted in $231,944.83 in penalties and $5,492.46 in back wages/overtime, with total costs potentially reaching $1,065,437.29. Prompted by 33 complaints, the investigation found 14- and 15-year-olds working without permits, exceeding shift limits, and violating hourly rules. The major franchisee previously settled a 2019 wage lawsuit. The Ashland location’s involvement in the new violations has been yet to be determined.
