MICHIGAN (AP) — Lawmakers from states with legalized gambling including Michigan are proposing standards for other states that are considering allowing internet betting. The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States drafted model legislation for states that are weighing whether to permit internet gambling. They plan to discuss it next week at their meeting in New Orleans. The model legislation proposes tax rates of 15% to 25% and a ban on credit card deposits. It's designed to give a framework for state legislation while incorporating things working well in states where gambling is legal.
