UPPER MICHIGAN - Public input is being accepted for the Michigan State Forest Management Plan. The state’s forests cover nearly 4 million acres, and forest management practices have evolved to keep pace. Multi-use plans are developed using sophisticated computer modeling to ensure continued optimum utilization and protection of state forests for future generations. The State Forest Management Plan outlines how Michigan’s forests will be managed over the next decade, emphasizing the importance of forestry practices for wildlife, forest products, climate change, and more. Input from the public will be a key part of how that plan is constructed. Go to michigan.gov and search regional forest management plans to learn more and to take the survey.
