LAC DU FLAMBEAU - Native American residents of Lac du Flambeau will soon be getting high speed internet access. $26 million in funding will allow about 2,400 unserved Native American households plus 25 businesses, the tribal government and 19 community anchor institutions to receive internet service. The Federal funding comes from the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program. The project will install a foundational fiber optic cable from Fifield to Lac du Flambeau and a network operations center. A grand opening will be held on Wednesday, attended by broadband leaders as well as local leadership.
