GOGEBIC COUNTY - The Gogebic Range Health Foundation is in the middle of its Giving Tuesday campaign, raising funds that will go back into its community grant program.

Executive Director Kassi Huotari says the foundation is hoping to raise more than $36,000 before the campaign ends on December 3rd. Huotari was also happy to announce that the Michigan Health Endowment Fund has recently given the foundation a $48,000 grant. Applications for grants from the GRHF will open in early 2025. Huotari says depending on how fundraising finishes up this year, the Gogebic Range Health Foundation hopes to give somewhere near $40,000 in grants early in 2025, focusing on youth engagement and mental health, economic empowerment, community food systems and helping communities connect. Over the last five years, the Gogebic Range Health Foundation has given near $1 million in grants in Iron and Gogebic Counties.
