VILAS COUNTY - The Vilas County Health Department has launched a support group for young families, offering free home or office visits to new moms and their babies, to help them get off to a good start. The Growing Together support group will also meet the second Thursday of each month from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River. Each meeting will have an activity or project that kids can do with their grown-ups, and educational and supportive opportunities on topics like nutrition, physical activity, and immunizations. Although the group expects to see kids mostly under five, as it meets on a school day, kids of all ages are welcome. The first meeting will be this Thursday. Reservations are welcome and can be made by calling the health department, but drop-ins are also invited.
