BAYFIELD – The US Coast Guard rescued a group of Paddlers in Bayfield yesterday

A group of kayakers paddling near Meyers Beach in Bayfield required assistance on Sunday. The US Coast Guard-Great Lakes reports the Bayfield Surveillance and Target Acquisition team responded to a call of two capsized kayakers hanging on to another person’s kayak, part of a group of eight. The six remaining paddlers were able to keep their boats upright but were having trouble making it back to shore due to weather conditions. All eight were taken to Cornucopia Marina and evaluated by EMS. All kayaks were recovered, and everyone checked out medically.
