ONTONAGON - Ontonagon Area Schools is asking voters to renew its bus maintenance millage for another five years on the November 3 ballot. The 0.42-mill levy would help fund replacing three buses in the district’s fleet. Superintendent Lisa Johnson says the district’s four bus routes cover more than 75,000 miles each school year, making regular bus replacement essential, especially given harsh winter conditions. The district also schedules millage requests strategically to limit sudden tax increases for residents. Voters should check the back of their ballots for local proposals. More information is available on the Ontonagon Area Schools Facebook page.
