LAC DU FLAMBEAU - The Lac du Flambeau town supervisor Gloria Cobb has resigned due to the ongoing road dispute. The ongoing dispute between the town and the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians regarding expired easements was the reason she cited for her resignation. A member of the tribe, Cobb was elected to the tribal council at the first of the month. As a member of the town board since 2019, Cobb began recusing herself from discussions or decisions regarding the road dispute. After her election to the tribal council, it was thought she might resign from her position with the town. After reading a heartfelt statement to the board, she said the decision to resign wasn’t an easy one. Town chairman Matt Gaulke said Cobb’s resignation is a loss to the town board and the town. He also said whoever is chosen to replace Cobb will serve for a short time before the town board expands from three to five members in the April election.
