ASHLAND COUNTY - An aquifer breach occurred late last week during Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 reroute near Marengo in Ashland County, after pipe was installed beneath the Marengo River. The Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission says the main concern is water quantity, with Enbridge pumping excess water into tanker trucks. The commission says sustained heavy flow could cause flooding or alter water levels. Enbridge says it’s working with the DNR and environmental specialists while monitoring and containing the water flow.
