N. WISCONSIN / U.P. - The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded $4,307,692 in grants to community organizations that provide suicide prevention services to veterans in Michigan and Wisconsin.  The funding is part of $112 million in grants awarded to over 100 organizations nationwide to support suicide prevention efforts.  Suicide prevention services funded through the program are not limited to crisis intervention. The funding can help veterans address housing instability, financial strain, employment challenges, relationships and access to healthcare before those pressures become a crisis.  All VA health care facilities provide veterans with same-day emergency mental health care access if needed.
