LANGLADE COUNTY - Six bear hunting dogs were killed in 2 separate wolf attacks in northern Wisconsin over the weekend, according to the Department of Natural Resources. The incidents happened one day apart in Langlade County.  Wisconsin DNR assistant wolf specialist Danielle Deming said both investigations confirmed wolves were responsible.  Wildlife Services investigated and confirmed wolves were responsible based on puncture wounds, tracks and hair found at the sites.  The next day, about 15 miles north near Elcho, another group of hunters lost a dog in a separate incident.  According to the DNR, Wisconsin’s wolf population remains stable at what biologists call “carrying capacity” wolves continue to be protected under the Endangered Species Act, and killing them is illegal.
