ASHLAND – Monkelien Murder Trial in Ashland Moves Forward. Dozens of possible jurors waited in an Ashland County courtroom yesterday and Tuesday as jury selection in the double murder trial of Ashland businessman Nathan Monkelien. Earlier in the month Monkelien’s attorney had petitioned the court to dismiss the charges against him, based on the fact that it has taken some time to get to the point of jury selection. That motion to dismiss was denied and the selection of a jury to try Monkelien in the murders of brothers Manuel and Luis Garcia Salas got underway in Judge Anthony Stella’s courtroom.
