HURLEY / ASHLAND - A motion to dismiss the murder case against an Ashland businessman has been denied…Nathan Monkelien’s attorneys’ motion to dismiss due to prejudice on the part of the state was argued before Judge Anthony Stella on December 30th with the judge dismissing the motion stating that it would have been impossible for the trial to begin when it was originally scheduled, due to the volume of evidence and the complexity of the case. Monkelien is being held on a million-dollar bond on charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of Manuel and Luis Garcia Salas in October. Monkelien’s trial is scheduled to begin in Iron County Circuit Court on Wednesday.
