N. WISCONSIN - The Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative says lung cancer incidence and mortality declined significantly in the last decade.  Declining smoking rates, effective tobacco control policies and regulations, earlier diagnosis, and improved treatments are said to be responsible for improvements in lung cancer incidence and mortality. The American Lung Association ranks Wisconsin 9th among 47 U.S. states with available data on diagnosis at an early stage, placing the state above the national average.
