PLUM LAKE / VILAS COUNTY - According to a press release from the Vilas County Sheriff's Office, at 7:04 P.M., Saturday, the Vilas County 911 Center received a call of a snowmobiler who had struck a tree along the shoreline of Star Lake near Rearing Pond Rd in the township of Plum Lake in Vilas County.  The first responders arrived on scene and transported the individual to a helicopter landing zone staging area. Life saving measures were unsuccessful and the snowmobiler was pronounced deceased prior to further transport to a hospital.  The incident is being investigated by Wisconsin DNR.  The name of victim is not being released at this time pending complete notification of the family.
