SAXON - Saxon Harbor’s Lake Superior marina has once again been recertified as a Wisconsin Clean Marina for its environmental efforts. The Ashland Daily Press reports that since 2020, the marina has implemented erosion and pollution controls, including bioretention areas, native plantings, and vegetated buffers, along with a fish cleaning station, fishing line recycling, and boater education. The certification is crucial for environmental stewardship, business appeal, risk reduction, local economy support, and infrastructure resilience. The Wisconsin Clean Marina Program, launched in 2010 by Wisconsin Sea Grant and partners, has certified 26 marinas. The marine industry contributes over $2.7 billion to Wisconsin’s economy.
