MERCER – No more Ambulance and Rescue service in Mercer in the New Year.  On Tuesday, the Town of Mercer was notified via email that Mercer Area Ambulance and Rescue was ceasing all service to Mercer and the surrounding communities effective January 1, 2025, at midnight. A press release from the town of Mercer states that “We are disappointed with the short notice, and had hoped for a seamless transition, until other arrangements have been made.”  The Town of Mercer has been working towards the creation of a new EMS service. That service should be up and running soon. In the meantime, neighboring communities are helping to cover calls, however the press release states that response times may be delayed.   Shortly after that information was released, the Mercer Fire Department issued a press release stating that “They are ready to respond to ANY situation no matter the challenge.”
