IRONWOOD - Dangerously cold arctic air settles into the area this weekend into early next week. Across interior western Upper Michigan, air temperatures will be below zero from Saturday night through at least Tuesday morning, and potentially until late Wednesday morning.  Monday will be the coldest day. On that day, temperatures may not rise above 10 below zero during the daylight hours over interior western Upper Michigan. Wind chills of 15 below to 40 below zero, coldest interior west, are expected from late Saturday through at least Tuesday morning.  In addition, lake effect snow will result in periods of whiteout conditions in the northwest wind snow belts late Saturday through Tuesday.  Snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 to locally 4 inches per 12 hours from Saturday night through Tuesday.  The highest snow totals will be in the higher terrain from the Pokies and into Ontonagon County.
