BAYFIELD - Bayfield’s new nine-day “Dark Sky, Star Bright” Winter celebration, starting tomorrow and running through next Sunday, is a joint effort by Friends of Apostle Islands and the Bayfield Chamber. The event promotes the region’s dark skies and unrivaled Winter scenery through activities such as dog sledding, celestial photograpy, guided sky tours plus telescopes available for looking at Jupiter, Saturn, the Andromeda Galaxy and more, weather permitting. Skywatcher AstroBob will be there, and, the University of Minnesota-Duluth will set up its portable planetarium. The celebration emphasizes the natural darkness as an asset against light pollution and a reminder that we all share the planet. Find more info at bayfield.org
