N. WISCONSIN – A bipartisan plan would require Wisconsin Schools to have a cardiac emergency response plan in place on school property and at school-sponsored athletic practices and competitions. Assembly Bill 362 passed the Wisconsin Assembly with unanimous on Tuesday. Under Assembly Bill 362, the written plan would outline the immediate steps of what needs to happen if the school thinks a cardiac arrest is happening on school grounds. The Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) states who is on the response team and how the response team gets activated. It also points out the jobs of the team, including who on the team is responsible for calling 911, who is responsible for starting CPR, and who is running to get the closest AED. The next step for this bill is approval in the Wisconsin State Senate. It would then be sent to the governor to get signed into law.
