GOGEBIC / ONTONAGON COUNTIES – After nearly 40 inches of fresh snow over the last week area snowmobile clubs are working to get trails ready for the season.   Trails in Gogebic County are open for the weekend.  Be aware of some low branches and wet spots, especially between Wakefield and Marenisco.  From Gogebic Area Grooming: Trail 13N to M-28: Fully cleared, all gates open, Corridor to Trail 1 North + 1N to swamp before M064 crossing: Opened, Trail 1 North (Bergland → White Pine): Passable, Trail 13N to our turnaround: Passable, cleanup continues, Trail 2: Passable & groomed through Marenisco. Trail 100: Passable but rough, wet areas, many whips/branches.  Expect rough, wet conditions only groomer tracks exist in many areas. Iron County, Wisconsin trails remain closed at this time.


Lake Gogebic Grooming Progress Report

Trail 13N to M-28: Fully cleared, all gates open.

Corridor to Trail 1 North + 1N to swamp before M064 crossing: Opened.

Trail 1 North (Bergland → White Pine): Passable.

Trail 1 South: Open to the turnaround. Beyond that, bladed to dirt (updates coming).

Trail 13N to our turnaround: Passable, cleanup continues (targeting completion tomorrow).

Trail 102: Gate open; clearing not yet started.

Trail 8 East: Two machines planned to begin opening east toward Ewen on Friday.

Trail 1 (Marenisco → Job Corp Rd): Passable & panned.

Trail 1 (Marenisco → end of 8800): Passable but not panned.

Trail 1 temporarily closed after 8800 to the county line near Copps Tower Rd.

Trail 2: Passable & groomed through Marenisco.

Trail 100: Passable but rough, wet areas, many whips/branches.

Trail 13:

Temporarily closed south of Trail 100; a reroute is being worked on.

North of Trail 100 to Camp 6 Rd is passable but needs cleanup.

Trail 1 (Marenisco → PI): Hoping to finish clearing tomorrow.

IRONWOOD - The Jack Frost Festival continues this weekend in downtown Ironwood.  The list of activities has something for everyone, today includes the monthly First Friday celebration with vendors downtown from 4 to 7 p.m.; Be sure and check out all the decorated windows and then its “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever showing at the Historic Ironwood Theatre. Saturday, the Ironwood Chamber’s Jack Frost Raffle drawing will take place downtown from 2 to 3 pm with 10 cash prizes awarded, including the top prize of $5,000. The Festival of Lights Parade kicks off at 6 and there’ll be a Christmas concert performed by the Gogebic Range Concert Band afterward at the HIT. Sunday, there’s musical entertainment as the Luther L. Wright High School Band puts on their annual Christmas Concert at 2 p.m., at the theatre. There are a ton more events happening all weekend so be sure and check the full schedule at ironwoodchamber.org

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin woman who almost killed her sixth-grade classmate to please horror character Slender Man and then fled her group home won't fight extradition from Illinois. A Cook County court spokesperson says Morgan Geyser made the move Tuesday during a hearing. Wisconsin authorities now have 30 days to pick her up and bring her back to the state.  She and a 43-year-old companion were arrested in Posen, Illinois, on Sunday.
