N. WISCONSIN / U.P. - Michigan's price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has risen more than 30 cents since last week.  The state's average price for a gallon of gas jumped to $4.83 a gallon since last week, up 32 cents, according to a Michigan Triple A report released yesterday.  Prices in Michigan range from $4.65 to $4.89 a gallon.  Around our region Lac Du Flambeau and Ontonagon $4.78, Ironwood, $4.63, Hurley $4.57, Minocqua $4.47, Park Falls $4.45, Watersmeet $4.44, Mellen and Glidden $4.39, Lowest price we could find was in Ashland at $4.26.  Nationwide gas prices remain over $4.00 per gallon averaging at $4.29.

HURLEY - The Iron County Economic Development Committee’s REV Group is hosting an Entrepreneur Fair today, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Iron County Memorial Building in Hurley. The event will connect entrepreneurs, investors, lenders, and property owners to discuss business opportunities and economic growth in the Hurley area. Organizers encourage people with business ideas, investment interests, or vacant properties to attend. Doors open at 5 p.m., with welcoming remarks at 5:30 and networking beginning at 6.

MICHIGAN - Michigan has joined the Federal Trade Commission and several other states including Wisconsin in suing the Dollar General Corporation for engaging in so-called “deceptive pricing practices” for allegedly charging customers more at the register than the displayed prices.  Michigan alleges it violated the Michigan Shopping Reform and Modernization Act and the Michigan Consumer Protection Act. The other states have accused the corporation of violating comparable laws.
