UPPER MICHIGAN - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is offering $500,000 in community tree management and planting grants, from $10,000 to $75,000, funded by the U.S. Forest Service and the DNR’s Urban and Community Forestry Program. The grants aim to expand tree canopy, particularly in areas with few trees, and to improve forest management. Eligible applicants include local/tribal governments, state agencies, educational institutions, and nonprofits for activities such as inventories, planting, maintenance, outreach, and training.
