GOGEBIC / ONTONAGON COUNTIES – The 2025 Firearm Deer Season in Michigan started Saturday and Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties are off to a good start.  Over the first weekend in Gogebic County there were 94 antlered and 5 antlerless deer harvested for a total of 99 according to the DNR website just before sunrise this morning.  In Ontonagon County 236 antlered and 55 antlerless deer were harvested for a total of 291.  The Michigan gun deer season runs until the end of the month; hunters are reminded to report deer kills to the DNR on their website or through the DNR app.  Wisconsin gun deer season starts on Saturday.

IRONWOOD - AAA of Michigan reports that a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Michigan has come down to $3.02. The national average is still higher than the state at $3.07 per gallon.  Marquette County had the lowest average in the Upper Peninsula at $2.90 per gallon, while Mackinac County had the highest average at $3.29.  Ironwood prices briefly dipped below $3 last week and sits at $3.03 a gallon as of this morning.

DEARBORN - The Thanksgiving holiday travel period begins next week. AAA of Michigan expects record-breaking numbers.  2.6 million Michigan residents will travel at least 50 miles from home during this period. That’s up 1.4% from last year.  2.3 million are expected to travel by car, 224,600 will travel by air, while 80,155 will use other methods of transportation, such as a bus, train, or cruise. That’s up 8.4% from 2024.
