ASHLAND - Public comments submitted to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin have been considered when it comes to a proposed hike in Ashland’s city water rates. The PSC had made the decision earlier in August to raise rates by 52% over two years, but after hearing some three dozen comments from residents, decided to only raise the rate by 44.4%. So now Ashland residents can expect to see their water rates increase by 18% on the 11th and 26% in the Fall of 2025. The city has determined that the 44.4% increase will be enough to pay off the cost of replacing the city’s water intake pipe, which has been in service for over a hundred years.
