SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says the freighter Michipicoten hit something underwater in Lake Superior and started taking on water Saturday. The collision occurred approximately 35 miles southwest of Isle Royale. Authorities say onboard water pumps began displacing water. By 9:15 a.m., water pumps had reduced the listing of the freighter from 15 degrees to 5 degrees.  The ship was carrying taconite with Twenty-two people on aboard.   The Ship anchored in Thunder Bay, Ontario with all its cargo on board, about 12 hours after reporting the collision.  A Traverse City helicopter and Bayfield boat crews responded, no injuries reported.
