UPPER MICHIGAN - The Upper Peninsula Arts and Culture Alliance (UPACA) has received $50,000 in NEA grants to drive economic growth through the arts. A $30,000 award from the Grants for Arts Projects will fund a regional mini-grant program for nonprofits, supporting jobs and arts access across all 15 U.P. counties. The remaining $20,000, via a Research Grants in the Arts award, will fund a study on arts and culture's economic impact. Both awards require a 1:1 local match. Executive Director Dr. Philip Rice confirmed the awards validate the arts' vital role in economic vitality. Details will be posted at upacalliance.com.
